Tess Backhus uses Integral Elements of Found Objects and Artifacts from far off places all mindfully selected and collected, then “framed” with semi-precious and organic stones and elements to create a collaboration of the past and present. Carnelian, Turquoise nuggets encased in vintage settings, Lapis, Coral, Amber and other unusual and rare stones that catch her fancy, and contribute to an array of unique wearable art. Multi-layers offer a bold look without weight and bulk, large stones and centerpieces create a strong statement. All lend the perfect enhancement to Vintage Tibetan, Nepalese, Japanese, Afghani, and African Elements. Accents and clasps can be Sterling Silver, Thai or Hill Tribe Silver, Oxidized Silver, Shibuchi (ancient Japanese Patina of Copper over Silver), 22K Gold Vermeil or 14K Gold Filled, Bronze or Brass.
